Meet Kiddy Cook in Croydon

Hello and welcome to Kiddy Cook. My name is Ana and I deliver school cooking workshops, after school clubs and private cooking clubs in Croydon and Sutton in Greater London. I will also be delivering a couple times a year cooking workshops in Portugal.

Ever since I remember my existence, I have loved food. Growing up in Portugal I spent a lot of time with my grandparents and I have a very vivid memory of going with them to the food markets to buy food from local farmers to then go home and prepare delicious meals. I was very fortunate to travel with my family abroad on holidays to various countries which all enriched my food experience and exposed me to the different food cultures. When I was old enough, I was the one organising and catering family lunches and dinners and was very passionate about experimenting new combinations and flavours.

My passion for food made me want to study nutrition and so I trained as a dietitian in Portugal. As I completed my BSc I was still thirsty to learn more and so I decided to move to London where I did a MSc in Nutrition that opened the doors to move on and complete my PhD in Nutritional Sciences at King’s College London. I really enjoy the research and academic work and environment but ever since I had my daughter (Mia, 3 years old), I started looking at the world from a different perspective and realised how important it is to implement healthy eating habits from a young age.

Inspired by Mia being in the kitchen with me from birth (nearly!) and by speaking to many mums that came to me to get advice on how to feed their children in challenging situations, I realised that the fundamental thing to implement across all cases is the exposure of the little ones to the kitchen. By doing this in a fun and engaging way (and messy at times!), while learning about food and very important life skills through cooking, we are setting themselves for the best start in life.

I can’t wait to welcome and meet you all and embark on magical food adventures together, Ana x
