About

Kiddy Cook travels to schools across the UK to deliver our highly engaging, hands-on classroom cooking experiences. Our healthy eating blended workshops have been developed in-line with the Health & Wellbeing curriculum and consist of a video to create a buzz and to kickstart your topic, a classroom cooking experience and teacher-led resources for children to continue their learning after we've gone. Most schools we visit re-book us for the following year, or for other workshops that we provide.

General Workshops

Our general school workshops increase links between curriculum initiatives in keeping physically and mentally fit, and include practical cooking and the development of important skills in food handling and preparation.

In addition, our resources provide support to other subjects, such as geography and general science, in making an important contribution to understanding the food journey, eating food to make us feel good, and why looking after our health is so important.

Food Foundation Programme

Our food foundation programme is a series of 10 weekly cooking workshops which help support an understanding of the food journey, healthy eating & activity, and why looking after our health is so important.  With demonstrable links to Ofsted's Education Framework, PSHE and Cooking & Nutrition, weekly themes range from food hygiene to figuring out food labels. Using different recipes each week, children get the chance to explore their senses and express their creativity in the kitchen.

Red2Blue Resilience Workshops

Our Red2Blue workshop is built around the mental skills and resilience needed to perform under pressure.

With its origins in sport and performance psychology we use cooking scenarios and the simple Red2Blue framework to help  students recognise when they are feeling under pressure and we teach practical and effective coping strategies for the challenges young people might face in their daily life. Nurseries

Kiddy Cook is passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of children across the UK.

Kiddy Cook is passionate about shaping a healthier future for everyone and our aim is to empower kids and young people to eat well, stay active, be happy! We are committed to providing high quality teaching to the children we work with.

Nurseries

Our nursery programme is called CookieTots and it supports toddlers & pre-schoolers in beginning to understand how to make healthy food choices. Sessions last around 45 minutes, and during each 6-week programme the children experience and explore food, discover where it comes from and learn what's healthy (and what's not!).

Each week they create a delicious recipe to take home and cook, along with their own wipe-clean recipe card.

For more information or to make a booking, get in touch with your nearest Kiddy Cook.

Class Structure

Each nursery session begins with a fun warm-up, where the children get on their feet and join in with cooking activity actions, accompanied by our catchy CookieTots music. Next, Katy Custard (our friendly CookieTots hand puppet) gives out picture recipe cards and the children help her to identify all the ingredients. Everyone then rolls-up their sleeves and joins in with music and games based around food and cooking.

The session ends with a “Show and Taste”, where children are encouraged to try different foods each week.

Testimonials

We get so much fabulous feedback about our nursery sessions and school workshops; here are just a few!

My Year 4 class had a fantastic time with  Kiddy Cook! The lesson was based around our topic of Europe and the children were able to make Italian pizzas to cook at home which they really enjoyed! They were also able to try different European foods and look at where foods are sourced from on a map. The session was really informative for the children as well as great fun. Nikki structures the workshops really well and are accessible for all learners. I would highly recommend!
~Amy Burke, year 4 Teacher (2019)

Brilliant Service! Kiddy Cook provided our school with four sessions of cookery. Nikki was brilliant and the children had lots of fun. The children learned lots about different tastes, ingredients and how to prepare a simple healthy meal. Nikki was extremely helpful in providing information about how the sessions matched the curriculum. She brought everything that was needed for the day and so the day ran really smoothly.
Thank you for a great day!
~Sara Dooley (2019).

Excellent 10 week programme! Thanks to the support from Cargill’s, we were lucky enough to have Nikki deliver a 10 week Kiddy Cook programme at our school for the fourth year running. Nikki’s workshops for my Year 3 class were always well prepared, fun and engaging; the children couldn’t wait to find out what they would be cooking each week. Through practical, hands-on experiences, the children learned about where their food comes from, healthy eating and how to prepare and cook dishes. Nikki’s sessions covered all of the cooking and nutrition aspects of the curriculum for my year group but, more importantly, taught the children an essential life skill. At the end of every session, each child got to take home their dish to share with their family, including a laminated recipe card so that they could recreate it.It was a pleasure to have Nikki come and work with us and I hope that she will be able to return to St. Wilfrid’s again in the future.
~Gemma Hickey, Year 3 Teacher (2019)
