Kiddy Cook's Kitchen Science Club is an afterschool cooking activity programme exclusively for local primary schools. We offer an interactive 'Food Experiments You Can Eat' assembly to whet kid's appetites and then follow-up with our afterschool clubs. We incorporate FOOD and SCIENCE into each lesson, so each child has a phenomenal experience preparing a FANTASTIC RECIPE whilst discovering how much fun food science can be!
Kiddy Cook has created a six week programme of highly interactive, science led workshops using food as the basis. We know how much primary school children love to conduct their own experiments and that's how they learn best - but how to do it? We have 6 whacky workshops that bring both cooking and science into the equation (so real value for money).
Here's an example of some of the themes that are involved with our Kitchen Science after school programme:
Each week has a single, one hour session which uses science to teach a variety of educational food topics in a fun and exciting way. We'll be conducting gastronomical experiments and hands on recipes to take home and cook.
We can cope with all ages and abilities within the key stages. Children read the recipes and get involved with as much or as little of the preperation they feel able to.
Our Class Leaders are passionate about teaching kids how to have fun with food. All of our food teachers hold enhanced DBS checks and certificates in food hygiene. We provide all the ingredients, cooking equipment, an apron, packaging and cooking know-how.
We have a 1-to-12 staff-to-child ratio, which means that children get fantastic value for money.
We can deliver our workhops in the classroom or school hall. We don't need an oven but we do need access to a sink.
Each week the children take home their food and they'll get a wipe clean recipe card so they'll know exactly how to cook it when they get home! This means that parents and carers can taste what's been made and they have the instructions and a list of ingredients to make it again!
