Kiddy Cook is an innovative project aimed at promoting cookery skills, healthy eating and food awareness amongst pre-school and primary school children. Our aim is to encourage children to want to eat a healthy balanced diet - to have an understanding of where food comes from and how to prepare it.

What We Offer Schools & Nurseries

Each of our sessions is designed to support The Foundation Stage of the National Curriculum and Key Stage 1 and 2 National Curriculum subjects of Design & Technology, Numeracy, Literacy, PSHE and Science.

Our tailor made cookery workshops suit the needs of the children. They are flexible and take into account any dietary requirements for health or religious purposes. We provide aprons, utensils and ingredients and visit you during the nursery or school day.

Here are some session ideas we’ve already done.

Healthy Lunchbox (PSHE)
This session teaches children about healthy eating and making healthy choices. We show the children how to make a delicious and nutritious snack and introduce them to the importance of having 5 fruit and vegetable portions a day.

Children create their own ‘healthy’ lunchbox ideas and record their recipes with drawings and writing.
Juicy Lucy (Design & Technology)
The children learn basic skills such as peeling, chopping and slicing as we introduce them to some of the fruits and vegetables that can be juiced and then get them to create their own drinks using fresh ingredients.
Soda Bread & Home Made Butter
The children make soda bread and home made butter before conducting a ‘volcano’ experiment to show them how carbon dioxide works to make their bread rise in the oven.
Outside the Curriculum

We are also happy to work with children who are having difficulty within the mainstream. We can provide session ideas for groups or one-to-one e.g.: using the lesson before lunch they could come and make a healthy meal and eat it together.
