Hi,
I am Emma and I run Kiddy Cook, Cookie Tots & Baby Cook classes & parties in Darlington and the surrounding areas.
I am a local mum of two young children. Since having children I have been acutely aware of the food that we eat and purchase as a family. I struggled to find any food related classes in my local area to attend with my children and when I found Kiddy Cook I knew that I had to be involved.
I am passionate about teaching my children where food comes from so that they do not grow up with only the knowledge that it comes from the supermarket. Since we started to grow our own veggies in a tiny patch in the garden the children have become more interested in food and eaten things which they would not have tried previously.
I have become more passionate about cooking and want my children to have memories of childhood meals as I have. I am still excited about what my mum might cook me for tea when we go there!
The sessions which I run do not only involve cooking (although this is an important part of all the sessions as it teaches a life skill which cannot be bought!) be also includes fun activities, games, music and experiments involving food, cooking and where food comes from.
Children benefit greatly from being able to play with food and the idea of food. We are always telling children not to play with food but at Babycook, Cookie Tots and Kiddy Cook playing, fun and food all collide to produce an interesting, entertaining and educational workshop!
